Washer Repair in Mount Pleasant, Daniel Island & the Islands

A washer will tell you which stage is failing if you stand there and make it fail. Wes does exactly that — the panel off, the water on, the meter clamped wherever the complaint lives — and writes the slip on what he watched.

How the Once-Over Runs

On the phone the complaint gets sorted into one of four: it will not fill, it stops in the wash, it will not drain, or it will not spin. The once-over runs that stage first. A leak means a towel down and a light under the tub while the machine runs, because a supply hose, a torn boot and a pump seal each soak the same square foot at wildly different prices. A code is looked up in the model’s own code table rather than a generic one, and the part loaded on the van is the one the table pointed to.

Aquifer Water, Upstairs Laundries, and the Stacked Pair

Mount Pleasant Waterworks draws from a deep aquifer and delivers water soft enough that most households dose detergent for water they do not have. Ten years of that leaves a film on the pressure-sensor tube, sours a front-loader’s door boot and fools the drain logic with foam, and a washer that stops on a drain code over a clean pump usually points at the detergent scoop, and the slip says so — a clean-out and a smaller measure rather than a pump. The islands and Daniel Island are on the same kind of supply, so the diagnosis travels.

East Cooper builds its laundries upstairs. Park West, Carolina Park, Daniel Island and the beach houses put the washer on the second floor, where a worn suspension is felt in every room below and a supply hose older than the machine is a ceiling waiting to happen. Suspension, balance ring and leveling feet get looked at together; old hoses get swapped as a matter of course, not as advice.

Stacked pairs are the third story — the Long Point apartments, the Belle Hall and Coleman Boulevard townhomes, the Daniel Island condos, the peninsula rentals. The brackets ride on the van, and a stacked washer comes apart and goes back together without drama once the hallway is clear. Front-loaders go through boots, bearings and door locks; the top-loaders still going in Snee Farm and Hanahan ranches go through couplers, lid switches and gearcases. Every one is a routine repair once Wes knows the model, and every slip carries a keep-or-retire line.

Mention it if you have noticed
  • Water on the floor as it fills or drains
  • Quits at the same minute of every load
  • A spin the whole house can feel
  • Load still dripping when it stops
  • Detergent drawer overflowing or crusted
  • Door will not unlock once the cycle ends

Washer Repair: Asked and Settled

Our front-loader smells and quits on a drain code.

On aquifer water that combination is nearly always detergent foam confusing the drain sensor. Wes checks the boot, the pressure tube and the pump in turn, and the slip is usually a clean-out plus a smaller measure.

Stacked washer in a Long Point apartment — can you get to it?

Yes. The stacking brackets are on the van for exactly that; clear the hallway and it is a routine job.

The upstairs washer shakes the whole house.

Springs, dampers, balance ring and leveling feet get sorted together, and any hose older than the washer gets swapped while the panel is off — upstairs, a burst hose means drywall.
