Park West & Carolina Park, Read Properly

The North Run

North Mount Pleasant grew in waves — Dunes West and Brickyard in the 90s, Park West through the 2000s, Carolina Park and the Highway 41 streets in the 2010s and since — and the van runs it as a batch: Park West and Rivertowne together, Carolina Park and the 41 corridor together, Dunes West as its own stop behind its gate. Wes times the run away from the 17 and 41 school traffic, and a warm box jumps the queue regardless.

Builder Packages Hitting Their Cliff

Every one of those neighborhoods took its appliances in a builder order — one refrigerator, one dishwasher, one laundry pair repeated across a hundred houses in the same eighteen months — and builder packages fail on a schedule. Park West is deep into it: drain pumps, defrost heaters, dryer idlers, door boots, by the street. Carolina Park is arriving at it now, right as the manufacturer warranties expire. Wes keeps the pattern in the ledger, and the part for a Carolina Park dishwasher is usually on the van before the second house on the cul-de-sac calls.

Attic Vents, Induction, and Natural Gas

North Mount Pleasant builds its laundry upstairs and pushes the dryer exhaust up into the attic and out a roof cap — the north run’s most frequent slow-dryer finding — and the once-over puts a manometer on it before an element is blamed. Carolina Park and the newest 41 streets went in with induction cooktops, which fail at a coil or a relay far more often than the whole top. Natural gas runs through most of it, so gas ranges and dryers get their igniter chain read in order; the acreage lots out toward Wando and the 41 edge run propane and wells, and the ledger records which each kitchen is on.

Three Things Park West Asks

Which part of Mount Pleasant is this page?

North of the 526 interchange — Park West, Carolina Park, Dunes West, Rivertowne, Brickyard, the Highway 41 streets. Awendaw and points past the 41 bridge are on request, not on the map.

Half of Park West seems to be replacing the same part.

Same builder package, same install year, same wear curve — a pattern, not bad luck. By the time yours goes the part is more than likely already on the van.

Our Carolina Park dryer takes forever.

The attic run to the roof hood, nearly always. A manometer at the exhaust says what it costs, and a truthful slip frequently lists nothing to buy.
